To ask the Minister for Health whether the Working Group on Health for Ethnic Minorities will collect data to examine the association between poorer health and other social determinants of health to accurately identify the root causes of poor health in such communities.

 
Answer 

1        The work group overseeing health promotion efforts for the ethnic minorities intends to examine the underlying causes for poor health in the Indian and Malay communities, including social determinants of health, drawing on data from national surveys and qualitative studies.  This will allow the work group to develop culturally appropriate interventions with the overall aim of improving health and well-being.
