UPDATE ON LOCAL COVID-19 SITUATION (14 JULY)

        As of 14 July 2021, 12pm, Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified that there are 56 cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, of which 42 belong to the KTV cluster. Of the 56 cases today, 17 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. 34 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance. 5 are currently unlinked. [1] There are 4 imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. 3 were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while 1 developed the illness during SHN or isolation. In total, there are 60 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore today.

Summary of trends for local cases

2.     Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 24 cases in the week before to 88 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 7 cases in the week before to 15 cases in the past week. The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 10.4 and 2.1 respectively.

Summary of trends for imported cases

3.     There are a total of 4 imported cases today. 3 were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while 1 developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

Active clusters under monitoring

4.     There are 3 new clusters (Case 64642, Case 64735 and Case 64752 clusters) today. In total, there are currently 25 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 94 infections.

Community surveillance testing and closure of affected premises

5.     MOH is investigating cases of COVID-19 infection amongst social hostesses who had frequented KTV lounges or clubs currently operating as F&B outlets, and their close social contacts. Our epidemiological investigations have found that there is likely ongoing transmission at the following premises:

i) One Exclusive (114 Middle Road);
ii) Level 9 (L9) (114 Middle Road);
iii) Terminal 10 (Clarke Quay); and
iv) Club M (114 Middle Road).

6.     To break any potential chain of transmission and enable deep cleaning, these premises have been closed to all members of the public from 15 July 2021 to 29 July 2021.

7.     We will also extend free COVID-19 testing to members of the public who had:

i) Visited the following premises between 29 June and 14 July 2021:
– One Exclusive (114 Middle Road), Level 9 (L9) (114 Middle Road), Terminal 10 (Clarke Quay) or Club M (114 Middle Road); or
– Similar KTV lounges or clubs operating as F&B outlets.

ii) Interacted with social hostesses of any nationality in any setting between 29 June and 14 July 2021.

8.     All visitors to these premises and similar settings and those who had interacted with social hostesses of any nationality are advised to monitor their health closely, and minimise social interactions as far as possible, for 14 days from their date of visit or interaction. They are encouraged to see a doctor immediately if they feel unwell.

Condition of confirmed cases

9.     125 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently 8 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 1 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

10.     There is continuing evidence that vaccination helps to prevent serious disease when one gets infected. Over the last 28 days, 18 local cases required oxygen supplementation, were admitted to ICU or passed away. 14 are unvaccinated, 4 are partially vaccinated and none was fully vaccinated.

Progress of national vaccination programme

11.     As of 13 July 2021, we have administered a total of 6,440,735 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme. The total number of doses administered was 6,440,735, covering 4,052,434 individuals. 2,420,824 individuals have completed the full vaccination regimen, consisting of 32,523 recovered persons who received at least one dose and 2,388,301 who received their second dose.
