Question No. 6012
To ask the Minister for Health (a) whether the National Wellness Committee for Junior Doctors has finalised its recommendations; (b) if so, what are the recommendations and whether any have been implemented; and (c) if not, what is the timeline for the recommendations to be finalised.
Answer
1 The National Wellness Committee for Junior Doctors (NWC-JD) has finalised its recommendations. These include setting clearer work hour guidelines for junior doctors, enhancing career guidance, and promoting a safe and supportive environment for junior doctors.
2 The recommendations are being progressively implemented, and Chief Wellness Officers have been appointed in our public healthcare clusters to oversee and coordinate efforts to improve the well-being of all healthcare workers. We have expanded and refined the career pathways of doctors in public healthcare, and introduced the Hospital Clinician scheme, to meet the care needs of Singaporeans while providing doctors with more career options. Clusters have also successfully piloted measures to improve work hours for junior doctors and will progressively implement these to more departments.
